How to dispute a debt if you believe there is an error
Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), you have the right to dispute any debt within 30 days of receiving our initial communication. If you believe the debt is not yours, the amount is incorrect, or you've already paid it, you should exercise this right.
Important: You must submit your dispute in writing within 30 days of our first contact for us to be required to verify the debt before continuing collection activities.
Send us a written dispute letter via certified mail with return receipt requested. Include your name, address, account/reference number, and a clear explanation of why you're disputing the debt.
Upon receiving your written dispute, we will pause all collection activities on your account while we investigate and obtain verification.
We will contact the original creditor to obtain documentation verifying the debt, including the original amount, account details, and proof of the obligation.
We will send you the verification documentation. If the debt cannot be verified, we will cease collection activities. If verified, we will provide you with the documentation.
